100 Steps with God by Steve McDonald is a simple put together devotional of sorts that gives the reader an inventory of how they are doing. It had well thought out questions to ask ourselves. How are we doing? What are we doing? Encouraging it was filled with hope and guidance that I found helpful. This was not an in-depth study of any one thing but rather a short biblical quote and a heartfelt question for each day. This book is very inspiring. It is filled with Bible verses on every page. The author asks thought provoking questions after each Bible verse. I would have liked to see more of the author's personal reflections on each verse. I bought a copy of 100 Steps with God (the Special Edition) for a family member, and I hope it blesses them as much as it blessed me.It’s an easy read, but emotionally and spiritually deep and, if you are truthful with yourself, it can be intense.I love that this book asks the reader to take a deep look into how God has worked in their lives. I especially love that the book challenges the reader to look inward on their beliefs and behaviors. For example, the book quotes Isaiah 64:8—But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and you are our potter; and we all are the work of Your hand. The accompanying reflection question asks, “How would you characterize yourself when it comes to being flexible and moldable?” That question hit me in the “feels” in a bad way because I’ve resisted being molded. All of my life I’ve asked God for patience, but I complain about every situation and challenge that calls for me to practice patience. It’s like asking God to make me a faster runner but complaining and having a bad attitude whenever I have to run a race.I also appreciate the section of the book that deals with God in the workplace. It says “In the workplace, disrupt the status quo and represent the light of God. Do not allow yourself to go along with the way the world does things. If you do this consistently, it will have a profound effect on others and bring others closer to God.” That’s a good reminder that people are watching the way Christians live, especially at work where things can get contentious and stressful. Your walk talks.All in all, I really enjoyed and was blessed by this book. I hope others will read it and share it with their friends and family.
